A National Weather Service advisory warned of another 2-4 inches of rain falling in the region − and isolated areas could see 9-12 inches.

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - A complex of storms in Central Texas will move into Southeast Texas and the Brazos Valley over the course of the day, bringing scattered storms and a localized wind and flooding threat into at least the early evening.

"It's not community to community. It's a national system," Sen. Maria Cantwell said on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan."

Severe thunderstorms will head east by Saturday, impacting eastern Michigan and parts of northern Indiana. Rain from 1 to 2 inches is possible as the system tracks east, but some areas could see isolated amounts of 3 to 5 inches through the weekend.

As ominous storm clouds gather once more over Texas, the desperate search for more than 150 individuals still missing since the catastrophic July 4 floods has now stretched into its second week.

Forecasters warn that slow-moving storms could bring heavy downpours to already saturated areas, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

Numerous scattered showers and storms will continue in the area through Sunday, with pockets of heavy rain and an increase in the risk for flash flooding.
