Sooners legend Baker Mayfield hosted a football camp in Norman on Saturday, and he weighed in on John Mateer and the leadership he brings to OU.

Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables told reporters on Wednesday that quarterback John Mateer "turned down more money" in the transfer portal to join the Sooners than he could've gotten elsewhere.

Perhaps Oklahoma's biggest returning pass-catcher is wide receiver Deion Burks, who delayed going pro in favor of one more collegiate season. Burks dealt with multiple injuries last year, but hopes to break out in Norman in 2025. Mateer raved about the dynamic player and how resilient he has been.
