Janson Junk has handled his transition from the Marlins' bullpen to their rotation with ease, limiting home runs and walks to a historic degree.
Junk (4-2) yielded six runs (five earned) on six hits and a walk over five innings Sunday, striking out one and taking a loss against Kansas City. Junk worked through three shutout innings before his outing went south.

Yardbarker on MSNOne Man’s (Janson) Junk Is Another Man’s TreasureFor quite some time, we have heard countless times that teams shouldn’t trade with the Rays. Why is that relevant here? Well, Peter Bendix was a part of the front office in Tampa where that notion was perceived.
Kris Bubic pitched five shutout innings, Salvador Perez homered and doubled and the Kansas City Royals beat Miami 7-4 on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep and end the Marlins' winning streak at four.
Junk isn't a huge strikeout guy, at 7.6 per nine innings. But he has been getting the job done this season. The 29-year old does have a deep pitch mix. Junk throws his four-seam fastball 37.5% of the time. Then it's his slider (29.4%), sweeper (15.2%), curveball (12.8%) and changeup (5.0%).
Aptly named, Janson has some serious Junk. The 29-year-old journeyman has caught on with the Marlins over the last couple of months and pitched his way to a 3.12 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 43 1/3 innings.
Janson Junk allowed five hits over seven innings to prevail in a pitcher's duel with former Marlins standout Trevor Rogers, Derek Hill drove in two runs and Xavier Edwards homered to help Miami beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-0.
Lake Bachar and Anthony Bender teamed to hold the Reds to just three hits as the Marlins won for the fourth time in their last seven.
