Apple Maps, Bing Maps and Google Maps have all changed their Maps software and apps to now display Gulf of America on the body of water that's been known as the Gulf of Mexico since the 16th century.

Popular map services such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and Bing Maps have all changed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in the U.S.

Google Maps renamed Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America in the US on February 10, following President Trump's announcement. Mexico has criticized the name change, claiming a breach of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. The rest of the world will see Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America), based on device location and settings.

People in Mexico will still see the name Gulf of Mexico, with international users seeing both names, Google said. The change follows an executive order from President Trump.
