Hamas has accused Israel of wanting to maintain long-term military control over Gaza. The claim came amid ongoing indirect ceasefire talks in Doha, Qatar. These negotiations are now in their second week with little visible progress.

The U.S. President said Israel “agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize” a 60-day ceasefire, “during which time we will work with all parties to end the war.”

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Syrian government officials and leaders in the Druze religious minority announced Wednesday a renewed ceasefire after days of clashes that have threatened to unravel the country’s postwar political transition and have drawn intervention by Syria’s powerful neighbor, Israel.
