Archive a folder Open the Disk Utility app that came with your Mac. Choose File then New Image and lastly Image from Folder. Then pick a folder with all of the files you want to save to the DMG.
Tried deleting the plist file for Disk Utility in ~/Library/Preferences to no avail. I did boot off the install cd and could open disk utility from there.
