Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been looking to add to his backroom staff after assistant coach Carlos Cuesta became Parma’s head coach earlier this summer. Arteta has known Heinze since he was a teenager at Paris Saint-Germain, where the pair played together over a decade ago.

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have made moves off the pitch, with the Spaniard adding ex-team-mate and a former Man Utd player to his coaching staff.

Of course, to English fans, Heinze is best known for his time at United between 2004 and 2007, a period in which he helped the side win the 2006/07 Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson. Famously, he once revealed that he was ‘knocked out’ by Roy Keane during his time at Old Trafford.
