The body of 62-year-old Marites Buenafe, a missing cruise passenger, has been found after she vanished while on a solo hike in Alaska, authorities have said.

Marites Buenafe, of Kentucky, was reported missing Tuesday afternoon when she did not return to the cruise ship Norwegian Bliss, according to the Alaska State Troopers.

The body of a Kentucky physician who vanished after leaving a cruise ship to go hiking has been found, authorities say. Dr. Marites Buenafe’s body was located just before midday Thursday by an Alaska Army National Guard helicopter, two days after she failed to return to the Norwegian Bliss during its stop at Juneau.
