Over 24 hours after a tanker truck crashed into a tributary of the Elwha River, the fallout remained murky — for salmon, drinking water and local tribes.

The city is advising residents to only drink bottled water and officials have set up free water distribution sites.

Access to water is being temporarily restricted to some people in the Port Angeles area after a Petro fuel tanker overturned and spilled into Indian Creek.
