Texas was on its way to wasting another terrific outing from Eovaldi before a blazing fast ninth-inning rally lifted the Rangers to a win.

A clutch two-run double by Jose Ramirez put the Guardians up in the 8th, but Cade Smith blew the save in the 9th in a brutal loss to the Rangers.

The Cleveland Guardians were in control during their series opener against the Texas Rangers on Friday night. They took an earlier lead against Nathan Eovaldi, one of the best pitchers in baseball, and Slade Cecconi, looking solid after a couple of rough outings.

Wyatt Langford took the first pitch of the inning 104.1 mph back up the middle and used his blazing speed to turn a single into a hustle double. Then Corey Seager took the first pitch he saw and blasted it 108.5 mph into the outfield to score Langford and tie the game.
